FOOT ON WATER

sailing between islands in french polynesia, i found myself staring into water so deep it stopped being blue and became something else entirely: a darkness with no bottom and no reassurance. terrifying. and completely impossible to look away from.

"foot on water" came from that feeling. present at the edge of something incomprehensible.

the deep navy isn't paint. it's the pacific.
